Name: Castiel Door: Door pass Canon: Supernatural Canon Point: End of S5, E22 Age: like a billion Appearance: right here History: here CR AU (Optional): n/a Personality: Positive Trait: Loyalty In the beginning, Castiel is...kind of a dick, if we're being honest. He's extremely pious, devoted to God despite never having met him, and declares numerous times that not only does he have faith in 'the plan' and 'God', but so should Dean, no questions asked. Thing is, Castiel is unusual in that this version of him, this specific version, he refuses to fall in line. He questions. He doubts. He tells Dean no, he's not just a hammer of God. His loyalties begin to shift away from the angels not long after he meets Dean, and as early as episode 7 in s4 we start seeing that he's aligning himself with Dean and the way he thinks as opposed to the absolutism of the heavenly host. Their friendship strengthens over the course of S4 and 5, and at the end of four, he truly rebels, and falls from heaven for Dean Winchester, the righteous man. It becomes more evident the longer they are friends that Castiel is not infallible - he makes mistakes. He screws up. But his heart is true, and all of the things he does are either to make it up to Dean, fix things for Dean, or to keep Dean alive. Of course, his loyalty is to both the boys, but it's easily argued (and stated) that his bond with Dean is far more profound. It's Dean's soul he touched in heaven, Dean's body that he reshaped as if made of clay. The things he does, he does for Dean - he fell for him, rebelled for him, fought for him. Against his better judgment, he goes along with nearly all of the Winchesters plans - from stopping Sam to trying to end the apocalypse - despite it sometimes being against his better judgment - and to the point of his own irritation but that's just Castiel's life, sighing and following after Sam and Dean begrudgingly. He considers them his family (it's obvious he does, even this early on) and died for them twice already by the end of season 5, and continues to do so again several more times. He forgives them for transgressions (though as linked above, not always without a form of lashing out or repercussion) nearly every single time. Doesn't mean Dean is always appreciative of Castiel's devotion, of course - throughout the show, he consistently disrespects Castiel, is unnecessarily abrasive at times, but through it all, Castiel always comes back in one way or another. (except in 15x18 but we won't talk about bruno) Negative Trait: self-sacrificing As stated before, Castiel is no stranger to sacrificing himself for his friends and those he considers family. He willingly faces Raphael alone at the end of season four to give Dean time to stop Sam, knowing that it would be his last stand. Being brought back was unexpected, though obviously appreciated. He does, of course, faces Adam and Lucifer at the end at Dean's request, tossing a Molotov cocktail at Adam filled with holy file, and subsequently getting blown up by Lucifer. Honestly, Castiel doesn't think much of himself and doesn't value his life at all - while he realizes he's not just a tool, he is still willing to step in front of him and forfeit his life. Later on, he does the same thing repeatedly - he takes Sam's Hell!insanity, agrees to let Lucifer use him as a vessel (yikes), to save Dean in s15...you get the picture. He's willing to go to nearly any length to keep Dean alive, no matter the cost to himself. Negative Trait: naïve Some wouldn't necessarily consider this a negative trait, but in regards to Castiel, it can be extremely detrimental to himself, to Dean, to both the brothers. He's smart, he can speak all the worlds languages, fluent in Enochian, well versed in magic (sigils, things taught by Dean, angelic shit he already knows, etc), but he really isn't familiar with humanity and hasn't interacted with them much. He can come off abrasive and brisk, and doesn't know how to communicate properly with people. His naivety has him trusting people he shouldn't, (for example Metatron, April the Reaper who stabbity stabs him dead), and the consequences of these choices and innocence and desire to do the right thing can be incredibly dire. In starting a civil war in heaven and defying Raphael, he begins a chain reaction that ends up with the fall of all angels from heaven, their wings in tatters, and he becomes a fugitive. He wants to fix heaven, wants to stop any more apocalypses that Raphael may start, and this naivety, this desire to do the right thing is destructive and chaotic. He also nearly blows his cover numerous times due to his utter lack of knowledge of the human race; holding his badge upside down, declaring he'll interview the cat, etc. The problem, too, is that he makes little effort to rectify this. The only reason he obtains more pop culture references than the things Dean has said to him is due to Metatron's exasperation with his utter lack of fucks to give about it. Of course, I'm pulling him from earlier on, so alas, he does not have that particular reference at the moment. Sorry, Cas. Negative Trait: pride Castiel is a prideful being, in seasons 4-6, especially. He reminds people of his powers and his ability to wipe them off the mat, and makes sure that Dean knows Castiel is able to toss him right back into hell if he so desires. His self-worth directly correlates to his connection with heaven and his abilities, and we see in an alternate universe (s5e4 - The End) that without said abilities, he withers. He becomes addicted to sex, drugs, alcohol, anything hedonistic that he can find. He doesn't know how to cope with humanity, all the thoughts and feelings and overwhelmingness of simply being human, therefore resorting to the things he sees Dean utilizing as a coping mechanism. When he is fully powered, though - we can clearly see that he is far more self-assured, even if he doesn't value his life. In season 6, we see him making Deals with Crowley in regards to Purgatory, but instead of sticking to their arrangement, Castiel takes all the souls and declares himself God - if that ain't prideful, I dunno what is. He demands that his friends - Dean included - kneel to him, declare their love and faith, and spares their lives out of 'good will'. He kills people he deems to be immoral, going on a spree until he's forced to seek help. Thinking he can be God is the ultimate dick move, and it ends with him dying for his sins. Powers and Abilities: it's a big damn list. see here OBVIOUSLY he's ridiculously overpowered, and I'm pulling him from end of s5, when he's been promoted to a seraph. That said, big boi needs some nerfing. - he can't teleport out of the city. he can still fly, pop in on people but out of the city? no go. - he can easily be taken down by the cities weapons (tasers, etc) - The more he flutters around, the more his graace/batteries run down and in turn, the longer it takes him to recover. - he can time travel in canon but he will not be able to do that here. homie can try, but he'll just end up wiped out and bed ridden (nearly human) for a while, bc I'm mean. - he can do mind control/telepathy/sedation(kinky)/etc but will have an opt in/out post. Because this fool is very overpowered, stupidly so, I'm open to any other nerfs the mods deem necessary c: Inventory: - his angel blade - one fake fbi badge - one jug of holy oil Samples: tdm being petulent with Sam this ones just funny and so is this |
